| Coating Additives CoatForce® fibres are significantly lighter in colour than the standard Roxul®1000 grades and have been specially developed for the coating and plastics industries where the visual and decorative aspects are particularly important. In applications were these aspects are less important, or high heat resistance is required, Lapinus offers the Roxul®1000 range. The Roxul®1000 range includes fibres of various lengths, shot contents and surface treatments. Roxul®1000 and CoatForce® exhibit excellent performance at elevated temperatures, easily surpassing other materials such as cellulose, slag, glass and aramid. They will not contribute to a fire but act as a blocking medium and reduce the spread of flame. They can be used at temperatures up to 700 ºC for CoatForce® and over 1000 ºC for Roxul®1000. The L:D ratio of the fibres ranges between 25 and 125, resulting in superior reinforcement properties over fillers. Their small diameter means they can be used in areas where glass fibres are not suitable due to their size. As well as untreated fibres, Lapinus can supply fibres with various surface treatments, such as amino- and sulphur-silane, cationic surfactant and rubber, to suit any particular binder. Surface treatment improves chemical or physical bonding between the fibre surface and binder material, further enhancing performance. Roxul®1000 and CoatForce® provide reinforcement and dimensional stability to a composite. Well-dispersed fibres form a reinforcing network in the paint layer, significantly enhancing resistance to cracking, impact, chipping and wear.
