Update on REACH
With regard to the Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical (REACH) please see below information.
With the support of the European Insulation Manufacturers Association (EURIMA) we have been preparing for the implementation of the REACH regulations. We are closely following the ongoing work on technical guidance documents (RIPs) and we are well aware of REACH entry into force in 1st June 2007 and its projected timetable, especially the requirements for pre-registration and registration.
Mineral fibres, such as the Roxul®1000 and Coatforce® are considered as a substance and will be registred.
As our fibres do not contain substances of high concern in concentration above 0.1% we do not anticipate any obligation to notify according to Article 7(2). It is expected that the publication of the list of substances of very high concern announced for October 2008, will confirm this assessment. Should we have any substance of very high concern above 0.1% w/w, we would inform you according to Article 33.
So, we will be registering as a substance the mineral wool fibres we manufacture and from which our products are formed.
Finally, we have implemented all possible actions to ensure that the substances used in the manufacture of its products will be pre registered as required, either by its suppliers or by itself.
As a downstream user of substances, we are verifying with our suppliers that, where appropriate, all the substances we use will be (pre) registered and that our use will be identified in their (extended) safety data sheet when required, In this regards, the list of pre registered that will be published in January 2009 will also be closely analyzed.
We are taking all possible actions to avoid any issue in the provision of our fibres and ensure uninterrupted supply.
Last, we are well conscious that a close collaboration with all the actors in the supply chain is required. As a consequence, we are actively participating to the preparation of the exposure scenarios for production and uses of our products, and in the update of our Safety Data Sheets.
